Benedictine convent of St Peter and St Paul, Hadmersleben
The convent (10th to 12th century) was established in 961 by Bishop Bernhard of Halberstadt as the Benedictine convent of SS. Peter and Stephen.
The bronze door-knocker dates from the period around 1190. The first church building was renovated in ca. 1050 and acquired its present dimensions in 1160-80. The bulky church tower with its round-arched windows and doors dates from 1520. Inside is a colossal baptismal font. The monastery survived until 1810; it is now a Catholic parish church.
