Castle and palace, Allstedt
As a Franconian imperial castle founded in the 8th century, Allstedt was one of the most frequented palaces in Saxony during the reign of the Ottonians. The imposing complex obtainedits appearance during the late-Gothic to Baroque era. Today, the maincastle with many details of mediaeval castle architecture is amuseum. Müntzer and Goethe were among the guests here. The unique castlekitchen, castle chapel, permanent exhibitions and beautiful innercourtyard are worth a particular look.
