Double chapel of St. Crucis, Landsberg
The double chapel of St. Crucis houses a permanent exhibition on the early settlement of the region, the excavations on the Slavonic castle site and the history of the mediaeval castle.
The chapel stands on a porphyry knoll in the town of Landsberg, and is visible from some distance. It is one of the largest double chapels to survive, and its fabric is still in its original condition. On the exterior, Romanesque decorations can still be identified on the south porch and on the main north porch. Only a few traces of the castle complex of the margraves of Landsberg have survived.
