St. Aegidius chapel, Naumburg
St. Aegidius chapel is in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral, and belongs to the cathedral curia. It is an example of the once numerous private chapels of members of the cathedral chapter.
The partly preserved Romanesque tympanum depicts the oldest pictorial representation of the legend of Aegidius in the German-speaking world. The two-storey building was first documented in 1305. Its dome-shaped design provides good acoustics for the concerts which are held there.
